On March 21st, 2009 The Assembly for Oklahoma Sovereignty took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Its purpose was to support the 10th Amendment Resolution (HJR 1003 by Representative Charles Key, and SJR 10 by Senator Randy Brogdon).

With a seemingly all-too-coincidental GOP Platform Committee meeting being pushed back one week to interfere with the assembly's attendance (it was originally scheduled for March 28th but was 'magically' pushed back one week by GOP Chairman Gary Jones... causing Sen. Brogdon to miss his own 10th Amendment event), the house was still packed with nearly 130 folks from all political and philosophical ideologies coming together at the Embassy Suites Hotel to listen, learn, and rally support to assert the right of sovereignty for Oklahoma!  This was a non-partisan event which included the company of folks from every spectrum who unanimously agree that freedom and sovereignty are not to be taken lightly, and that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land!

For just under two hours the citizens of Oklahoma gathered to hear from a line-up of great speakers on the subjects of sovereignty and liberty and some very encouraging words on the urgency of active involvement in our political process.

Laurette Lynn
Laurette, wife and mother of three, organized and emceed the event.  This is the first time organizing an event of this nature, and her largest audience by far to date - but you would never know it!   Laurette wowed the crowd with her charm and grace as the audience laughed, cheered, and applauded.  I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see this young lady in action.

Dean Scott
Without mincing words, Dean (Laurette's husband) delivers a strong and very direct warning to We the People that our personal liberties are in great danger which is why it is so extremely important for us to loudly claim state sovereignty in a unified and strong voice!

Kaye Beach
A fierce activist and Oklahoma’s liaison to the State Capitol brought us the latest news on all the legislation that affects us.   Kaye walked us through what is happening with the legislation, where it started and where it’s headed, what we can do and what other legislation we need to keep on top of. Ryan Underwood
A brilliant grass-roots activist delivers an awesome speech, reminding our legislators that we are here and we are demanding to be taken seriously or they will indeed be fired!  Ryan also provided us with our new catch phrase “I will not make you a slave!” We expect to be hearing this from all of our candidates!

Gary Casey
A local activist and former senatorial candidate with a strong sense of what liberty is.  Gary reminded us that we all have an obligation to be involved in our local politics. He assured us that we *are* in fact capable of making the change, all it takes is involvement and commitment and action!

Cheryl Williams
Current Vice Chair of the OK GOP, running for OK GOP Chair, reinforced the importance of active involvement, and drove that message home with a strong reminder to the people to get out and vote for the right people, get involved, volunteer and even run for office!

Kirk Shelley

RJ Harris
Running for a congressional seat for Oklahoma’s 4th district, RJ delivers a knock out, from-the-heart speech on slavery and socialism and just how crucial it is for us to be declaring sovereignty!  RJ also reminded us that we need to support the candidates that are not going to be making us slaves (thanks again to Ryan for the phrase) and supporting congressional candidates that will vote according to the US Constitution as they are sworn to do!

Will Patton
Iraq war veteran from Springfield, Missouri honors us with some information about the recent fiasco happening to our freedoms in Missouri (and other states).  Will was good enough to share with us his experience with being labeled a “terrorist” after bravely fighting in this dang war for his country!  His message was strong and his warning was heeded!

Representative Charles Key
The man of the hour and author of HJR 1003, the shot that started the Sovereignty movement speaks to us about the crucial importance of what we are doing and why.  His words were nothing short of fantastic and inspiring. Representative Key has the courage to stand up to our corrupt forces in government and say “This is not acceptable!”

In Closing
The message was delivered and will continue to fall upon the hearts of Americans here and throughout our great nation. The message that we are a nation born of liberty and a people born in sovereignty carries on!  We the people of Oklahoma assert our sovereign rights and We the People of this United States of America demand that our Constitution be adhered to as it was written – the Supreme Law of the Land.
